Today's Google Doodle Anne Frank's Diary

Google is paying tribute to Anne Frank, the teen diarist, who died in 1945 during the Holocaust, through a series of animated pictures as a slideshow

This doodle was made by Google Doodle art director Thoka Maer as the illustrator cited Jewish German-Dutch diarist Anne Frank's sense of commitment to preserving the memory of the holocaust.

Born in Germany's Frankfurt on June 12 1929, Anne & her family were soon forced to move to Amsterdam to escape the prejudice and violence faced at the hands of the rising Nazi Party.

Frank wrote her first entry on June 20, 1942, and upon moving into the Achterhuis, or the Secret Annex, she began writing regularly.

The last entry in Frank's diary is dated August 1, 1944. Her arrest came three days later after a raid of the annex by the Nazi Grüne Polizei.

"The Diary of a Young Girl" sold over 30 million copies across the world since June 25 1947, and has also been translated into 67 different languages as well.

The Diary was also made into a play that premiered on Broadway in October 1955, and in 1956 it won both the Tony Award for best play and the Pulitzer Prize for best drama.
